In a blog Wednesday, we referred to the “mock controversy” surrounding the Summer of China exhibition opening Saturday at the Milwaukee Art Museum. By “mock controversy,” we were not referring to the issue of the Chinese government’s reported detention of an outspoken artist. We were referring to the agitation for the museum to modify its Summer of China program in light of the ongoing conflict between the outspoken artist and the Chinese government.
We see no reason for the Art Museum to modify its comprehensive look at 3,000 years of Chinese art, one of the most outstanding programs developed here or at any other U.S. art museum. See it. We think you’ll agree.
